The flute is known as the earliest musical instrument in time...

The flute is one of the oldest instruments in existence and has a been discovered by archaeologists around the world!

The flute is played by blowing air into the mouthpiece located at the end of the instrument. The flautist then depresses the keys located along the body of the instrument to sound different notes. The flute is considered a woodwind instrument, but unlike other instruments in the woodwind family the flute does not use a wooden reed to produce sound.

The best age to start learning how to play the flute is 8 or 9 years old since it takes a lot of breath control to play. For a younger student, they can start out on the recorder in preparation for learning how to play the flute when they get older.

Most students will take private flute lessons while they are participating in band in middle and high school to get that added attention needed to progress their skills.

Our flute instructors teach all levels of flute players from beginner to advanced as well as they can teach the recorder!
