The piano is our most popular instrument!

The piano is one of the most popular instruments to learn; whether you're a beginner or you have some experience, we have a piano instructor that can work with you no matter what level!

Music Quarters offers beginner to advanced piano lessons, and we recommend piano lessons for students age 5 and up. Some of our instructors will start a 4 year old after doing a trial lesson to see if they are ready to get started!

The piano is extremely helpful in the development of your child’s young mind and body. Not only will the student develop hand-eye coordination, but they will also improve greatly in concentration. Most importantly, learning an instrument improves discipline, dedication and the rewards of hard work. Studies have shown that grade-school children that have taken piano lessons for three years scored higher than their peers on tests of general and spatial cognitive development...the skills needed for performance in math, engineering and other pursuits. For an adult student, piano lessons significantly reduced anxiety, depression and loneliness.

We always suggest as the first instrument for a young child (5-6 years old) to start with the piano. Learning music theory and note reading is important when learning any instrument. Learning the  piano is a great way for the young student to get a good, solid foundation to begin their musical studies. Plus, learning the piano is much easier than most other instruments so the young student is able to progress faster and hear results at a faster pace.

Whether your child has expressed an interest or it's something you personally have always wanted to learn, piano lessons can be taught to students of all ages and levels of ability.

In order for you or your child to practice the piano at home, you don’t necessarily need to purchase a full-sized piano as you get started with piano lessons. A standard 88-keys keyboard (weighted keys preferred) will work just fine.

For students ready for a full-sized upright piano, ask us about the Steinway Piano Gallery of Charlotte rental program.
