Acoustic, electric or bass guitar lessons

Do you want to learn how to play the guitar? Whether you are a beginner or advanced guitar player, our instructors can help you on your path to learning.

The recommended age range to start guitar lessons at our studio is 7 - 8 years old.  Learning the guitar can be challenging and requires lots of practice.  Getting started on the guitar, students will find getting their fingers accustom to playing the strings can take time and they will need to toughen up their fingers in order for it to become more comfortable. Therefore, practicing daily is very important!

When beginning guitar lessons the students will start out learning simple notes on the guitar, move on to simple chords and put it all together to play some songs. Another method used in guitar is the tablature method but learning notes and chords is important and is part of learning basic music theory.  For students that have already studied piano, they will find learning the guitar will come easier when it comes to reading the music and understanding the chords.

For the younger student, we recommend they start on a 3/4 size Classical style (nylon strings) guitar. These types of strings are easier on the fingers. You could also start on a 3/4 size Acoustic style (steel string) but it may take longer for the fingers to "toughen" up using this type of guitar.

Electric Guitar

For students interested in learning on an electric guitar, the process will be the same for beginners. For the more experienced electric guitar player, our instructors can help you advance your skills once they assess your level and discuss with you the goals you wish to obtain in the learning process.

Music Quarters rents 3/4 size and full size classical and acoustic style guitars to our students. This is ideal for students and parents that would like to give guitar lessons a try for a few months before committing to buying a guitar. Our rental program is a rent-to-own program. Bass Guitar

We recommend bass lessons for children ages 10 and up. Because it’s a larger instrument and more challenging, it truly depends on hand strength and attention span.
